Flashing lights & med privider

An anyone tell me if flashing lights and medical provider is a requirement for raise in grade to 500/1600. Was looking over checklist and didn’t see it.

I just looked at the checklist, they are both still on there. But, I thought they got rid of the flashing light requirement. More than likely, mcp is still mandatory.

Thanks! Didn’t see it on check list. Had heard flashing lights may come out.

Someone posted the current checklist on here a few weeks ago. The one on NMC’s site is very out of date. Do a search on “checklist flashing light” and it should come up.

You don’t need either anymore.

They are not needed as long as you are staying near coastal. You will have to get them if you decide to get your oceans.

For endorsements for not more than 500 GRT or not more than 1600 GRT, flashing light is required for the first STCW as either OICNW or Chief Mate/Master. You can either take a course, or complete the OICNW assessment for flashing light (the assessment alone is not acceptable for unlimited licenses).

Medical care provider is not currently required as it is not specifically required in the CFR.
