i just ran across an article about Majetic Blue and the tuna fleet posted at Medium. It’s not exactly the NY Times but the story is still alive.
I wish there was some way to get the likes of Duncan Hunter, John McCain, and a few CG admirals stuck on one of those boats for a few months.
I wonder if our esteemed POTUS has read that article … if he wants to do something for Americans before he leaves office a presidential decree voiding this treasonous practice would be a good place to start.
Doesn’t Nancy Pelosi’s husband have a hand in this somehow
This business of allowing the worst foreign vessel operators using virtual slave labor to wrap themselves in shell corporations and the American flag while the USCG and Congress does nothing is ridiculous and disgusting.

I am in total Agreement with this post.
To the Anti- Jones Act Crowd, This is what would be running vessels if the Jones Act went away! Also, this would not just be the Blue Water Fleet (Tankers and Other types of “Deep Sea” Ships) but you would have sailors such as mentioned by this Article running vessels of all sizes on all of the rivers and coast of this Country. I can see it now, a Foreign sailor coming down the Mississippi with 20 barges (or more) and taking out a bridge. The crew of the Tug would be gone so fast to never return and we the Tax Payers would be left cleaning up the mess!
I tell you what but if I was ever in such as position as David Hill, I’d be packing aboard and if I saw my “bosses” about to kill me, there would be many dead bodies from gunshots to the head! Of course, I am never going to sell my license for a piece of silver but just saying.

You make an excellent point. Eliminating the Jones Act would result in foreign flag vessels with virtually slave foreign labor operating most of the vessels in the US. the USCG would be overwhelmed and fail to regulate this mess even more spectacularly than they have failed to regulate the American flag distant water tuna fleet.
