Edison Chouest New Hire Advice

I did it last Thursday. All I had to do was walk up and down the stairs twice, lift a 20lb kettle ball up to a top shelf, lift an aluminum box that had 35lbs in it, climb a ladder and crawl through a hole. In and out in 45 minutes.

How big was the hole you had to crawl through?

Not sure about ECO but the one I went through was about the size of a typical tank man hole cover. I had to crawl on the ground through it. One of my larger friends said they just took the round hoop and had him stand straight up and see he could squeeze his big belly through it. Reading through this post seems like there is a little variety for everything even for the same employer.

I didnt have to crawl through anything that I can remember for ECO.

Who the hell do these people think we are? I bitched about an Anderson Kelly physical. Jesus sounds like y’all are trying out for a triathlon.

It’s hard work mashing buttons and staring out the window all day gotta be in top form…

I’ve talked to some folks about this before, but just for the hell of hearing other people’s experience, what kind of vision tests are they doing? I meet the CG requirements for my physicals but have run into different opinions of what ā€œcorrectableā€ means and not correctable. Anyone know 20/what these companies test for?

Don’t see myself going anywhere but just something I wonder about in case.

Anderson Kelly is a whole other ball of stupidity. Every time I get one of those done I have to tell the clinic that they’ve forgotten to do half of the things.

The physicals now are not nearly as bad as they used to be. In the mid 90s I had to take a physical at the ā€œHouse of painā€ in Lafayette. We had to climb up 40 steps with an 80 pound tool box 4 times then again with a 20 pound tool box. Then we had to lift 60 pound and 40 pound bags of cement from the floor then chest level on to a platform. Then from the platform back to the floor. You did this for a half hour or so. Then climb a ladder to a platform then down a rope a few times. Then there was a phone booth looking box where you had to unscrew 50 bolts over your head then then turn 90 degrees and do another 50 bolts until you unblolted all 4 sides for a total of 200 bolts overhead. At that point you had to then put them all back in and tighten them for the next poor guy. Then you had to drag 300 foot of 2.5 inch nylon 100 feet in the parking lot then drag it back afew times and then 50 foot of 2.5 inch line had to be carried over your shoulder back and forth several times. There was more but you get the point.
This was done in a warehouse with no air conditioning. You did this while wearing a heart monitor. And after this we had to get in a large machine and push and press against the walls of the machine with everything we had so it could measure our stamina and strength output.
This was a 6 hour physical or so. Not 20 minutes in an air conditioned doctors office. Thank God my lively hood no longer depends on doing that.

I’m pretty sure the cutoff is 20/40

Ok so im literally freaking out right now because i just took my anderson kelly medical yesterday (new hire) and i forgot to call them after my appointment. Im scared to tell my coordinator. Does anyone know what will happen to my employment?

Nothing. Anderson Kelly wants you to call them just to verify that all of the stuff they wanted done during the physical was done.
