If it is the dove the master on there is a real good guy. He was my mate 10 years ago. As far as Africa and Brazil, spots are wide open for people. For the last 4 years I worked in Brazil and we were always trying to get people. If you are an officer and want to go to Brazil they will be more than happy to take you. There were over 80 vessels there when I left in December. They can’t get enough people.
Are there any 10ton vessels down in Brazil Dsc?
Are there any 10ton vessels down in Brazil Dsc?
There was only one vessel in excess of 6000 tons and that was the island enforcer. Her tonnage however, requires an unlimited license. The only thing close was the deepstim brasil 1 and 2. Their tonnage is 5914. You also have the holiday which is over 3000 and the Joe griffin with the added rov just brings her in right over 3000.

as far as I know the only vessels in the fleet requiring a 10,000 would be the blue orca working in the north sea and the palmer working in Antarctica and the aiviq.

I think he meant 100 ton

Oh 100 ton sorry. There are 3 crew boats I believe. However they require 200 ton guys from what I understand. Also it’s a given but you should also have an oceans endorsement. I do know that there are a couple of crew boats with 1600 ton masters aboard.
I wish my worthless fat ass could have passed the step test, I would already be trying to get to Brazil. :frowning:

I’m working on it though. Hopefully I will have lost enough weight by next spring to pass it.
I am another worthless fat ass, on the 1400 calorie and cardio/kettlebell agony, hope to join you soon before I end up in a nursing home.

Starting an anti-hypertensive does not help in that regard! ha ha!

Kee-rist, it makes me want to cry and eat a whole box of cup cakes and wash them down with a Belgian abbey ale.

I feel your pain catherder!! Good luck to you!

Damn that fucking step!!

The YMCA step test is the easiest part of the whole thing. A trainer can teach you how to get past that.

Yes I will be hiring a trainer to help me with that before I go back down. But it will be next year before that happens.

Is that what it is called? The YMCA step test? That will help me to explain to a trainer what it is.

yeah, and the step test is passable even as a big boy, your cardiovascular health is more important than what the number on the scale is.

Are you guys all talking about the step test that all you have to do is walk up and down three steps twice?

More like up and down three steps for 3 minutes at a quick pace (set to a metronome).

You have to step up on a foot tall block, up and down with each foot (no jumping) for three minutes straight, then you cool down for a minute they check your pulse, actually doing the test is easy but even some skinny people have trouble passing in the set parameters for your pulse.

How slow can you go, if it doesn’t matter I’d do the minimum so as to not get my HR and BP too high.

Edit: nvm I just saw that it’s paced.

I believe its 96 steps per minute, step up with one foot, step up with the other, step down with one foot, step down with the other etc

Is this the new hire step test or the one for trying to get into a different division?

It was new hire for me. Strangely they didnt make you do it last year when a friend of mine was hired. Go figure.

On a related note does hornbeck’s physicals have the same test?

Yes. They also had me climb ladders, carry full diesel jugs up stairs and carry an 80lb weight chest high for 100 yards. Keep hitting the gym dude, you’ll get it.
