Looks like many factors behind this shift…article says labor negotiations are a big factor, but not too sure that’s the root cause. More likely cost and customer service (aka massive delays) are the big reason.
Additionally, it’s likely 30-50% of cargo that used to be landed on left coast was hidding to middle or east coast anyway, so why not just bring the ship closer to the end point?
