If you were an innocent bystander and maybe a truck driver, I wonder if you would start thinking what happens to good old engineering from the land that when moved onto a vessel they become so accident prone?

The less you look at the vms the more you can walk around
Just sayinā¦

Sorry not aimed at you, just a general comment.
When the vessel is maneuvering in port or on DP there is an engineer in the control room. Doesnāt the rigs 500m zone procedures require a manned engine room? I know our ASOP requires a manned engine room inside the 500. Why would they require us to be manned and the rig not be?
LOL, you forget, āThose with the money make the rulesā
To the best of my memory, Anadarko has no such requirements. There certainly was ZERO contractual obligation to have DP certs in the wheelhouse. That obviously accounts for a lot of OSVs in Fourchon.

I just DMāed you, let me know if you got it because it disappeared once I hit send
Does anybody know what manning was on the Ensco 8502?
Just curious since the 40+ days down time, engine room fire, and flooding while under tow seems to be a good argument against this idea - if they had similar manning.
I guess the engineers are lucky they can palm off some of the work to the DPOās, what with 4 engine rooms and all those pmās plus walk aroundsā¦lol
