Here is a blog with a couple hundred posts about the Cowpens situation. What is remarkable is the amount of venting that is clearly written for the Navy’s benefit. This appears that this was a situation where there was very little accountability.
One thing is pretty clear - she did not have the respect of her crew who wrote these blogs.
That is a brief reminder that respect is not demanded, but earned! Too bad some squids didn’t remember that! Unfortunately most military (or quasi military) situations soon forget that. Think of your local police dept for a vivid reminder!
The Naval Academy can be looked at a four-year in-house corporate training program. It it you learn a pretty specific management and behavior style. After that your entire career takes place in this same environment with very specific rules of conduct.
How this person was able to operate so far outside of the established parameters is mind-boggling!
