Hello all, is anybody on here working for Crowley in Valdez? I am curious as to what the day to day job is like for a mate there. Just curious as to the ins and outs of it.
Captain Pao who is excited about being on the worlds biggest z-drive could probably give an idea here
Movies, fishing, movies, fishing and a plane ride home is how one of my friends up there described it.

With a cooler full of halibut no doubt.
Not the place to go if you care to advance & actually learn something that may carry into other jobs.
Very close-minded bubble where their credo is "but that's the way its been done".
Beautiful area & great fishing. Great place to work if you care to watch a lot of movies, you're fat & can't do cargo watch, want to read poop-load or learn a musical instrument/new language.
Retiring & don't care to work much but want to be around some of the best fishing? This place is for you.
Thought about it once. At the time they said I’d have to work the oil spill barges a few months; required wheelhouse training, no thanks.
I spent time in Valdez, I had lots of hand on experience @ ship assist and escort. Also gained experience handling the barges
bumpin the thread…any info on engineer pay/rotations? Also, one chief or any of the boats in valdez carry assistants?
Two boats carry a second engine position. One of the Invaders is required to have an assistant, and the Endurance (old mud boat) carries an oiler for their ‘engineer training program’. Rotations are either 30/30 or 60/60.
