Coronavirus at sea?

But just like infuenza, only the elderly, very young, and those with medical complications are at risk for it being fatal. You should google how many people the flu kills each year.

Yeah, its mostly going to kill off the old guys like me, and poor people that cannot afford to maintain their health, so who cares?

It’s just Darwinism doing what it must.

After I’m dead, I’ll be looking down and laughing at you, while you are whining that the Medicare deductions being taken out of your pay check just went up 500% to cover the medical bills for 7 million dying people.

Medical bills?!?!? I thought the plan was just to round you all up and provide no care. Well if it’s gonna be expensive that changes things.

Corona virus? Reminds me of SARS in 2003-2005. It was everywhere on the news. People were scared, I was wondering if I should be scared too. Then I drove down I-95 surrounded by blue haired people, immigrants that never had a driving lesson and good ole boys that had an attitude and were likely armed. Exited off I-95 to travel thru a sketchy neighborhood to get to the airport. Flew to Africa, landed and got off the plane to be taken to another small plane. Pilot was a hung over old guy and the copilot was so young I wondered if he needed burping. Flew to bumfuck Africa to get on a helicopter that had seen its better days. Finally landed on a rig operated by the stellar safety conscious folks of Transocean and BP to work for a week . In a moment of clarity I decided SARS was the least of my worries.

That’s only partially true. The very old, very young & those with poor health already will always be more at risk with viruses. But medical professionals in the prime of their lives are also kicking the bucket with the coronavirus. These docs should be given the best treatment from their friends & coworkers & have the smarts to do what it takes to get better but they are still dying like the rest. The coronavirus is also killing my dabble stock market investment balances too.

Would not worry about the stock market. It is notoriously irrational. After reading your post I checked and found I was down tens of thousands for the day, totally irrational. Alogrithms written by quants control over 95% of trading now. They trigger on bad news and good with no rationality other than trying to make a profit for one day or stop a loss. For long term investors its just noise.

It’s like Black Friday or Cyber Monday. The sale is on! Time to buy at a discount!

Yep, you only win or lose when you sell, get a dividend or a company goes belly up. I have cash on the side & it is & will be a good time to invest IMO.

Things have to fall much further before I change a thing. Still too pricey for me. Patience. A drop of 2-5% is nothing to get excited about, this is a hiccup.

According to CNN…

Hold on a minute. Can we charge for this service?

Run for your lives!! There’s a major problem with this cure! I heard the CDC is going to open brothels, force sailors to work in them & 99% of sailors will not like 50% of the clientele.

US State Department just put this out:

Passengers on Cruise Ships

U.S. citizens, particularly travelers with underlying health conditions, should not travel by cruise ship. CDC notes increased risk of infection of COVID-19 in a cruise ship environment. In order to curb the spread of COVID-19, many countries have implemented strict screening procedures that have denied port entry rights to ships and prevented passengers from disembarking. In some cases, local authorities have permitted disembarkation but subjected passengers to local quarantine procedures. While the U.S. government has evacuated some cruise ship passengers in recent weeks, repatriation flights should not be relied upon as an option for U.S. citizens under the potential risk of quarantine by local authorities.

This is a fluid situation. CDC notes that older adults and travelers with underlying health issues should avoid situations that put them at increased risk for more severe disease. This entails avoiding crowded places, avoiding non-essential travel such as long plane trips, and especially avoiding embarking on cruise ships. Passengers with plans to travel by cruise ship should contact their cruise line companies directly for further information and continue to monitor the Travel.state.gov website and see the latest information from the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/index.html.

Downloadable PDF card to take with you while you travel.

Cruise ships are floating disease barges
Been saying it for years. I would not waste my money

For everyone else…wash ya damned paws…
I saw the Chief Steward walking around worrying about the virus while sticking his hands into a community snack bag that about 20 other people been rooting thru and half these guys are from the Seattle area and have colds. Jeeezus.

Guidelines from the World Health Organisation recommended that a clinically recovered COVID-19 patient should test negative for the virus twice, with tests conducted at least 24 hours apart. Antigen PCR tests are the critical test for this scenario.

Antigen tests which are often referred to as PCR tests, directly detect the virus itself using swabs from the nose and throat and have a high accuracy rate. The swab is then sent to an accredited laboratory for testing with results typically available within 1-3 days.
