The vessel currently known as the Aiviq should be operational in 2026, according to a service announcement Wednesday.

If the Coast Guard has to wait on funding to build “infrastructure” in Juneau, by the time they get the funding, if the “climate change crowd” is correct, there won’t be any ice left to break.

The Coast Guard has already acquired additional waterfront property in Juneau, anticipating the Aiviq, but until this week, the agency hadn’t confirmed its plans.
They still need to build the pier and services.
The way our government drags it’s @$$, excuse me, feet, 2036 will be more like it.
Wonder if the Tow Captain will be going up to Juneau as well?
