Not to start a semantics war, but those programs are actually entitlement programs.
I also get annoyed when the term is used as a pejorative.
I’d have to say that the Citizens United lie brought about the worst Supreme Court decision of my lifetime, so far. I gladly donated to the political action fund in my union, and still do, but felt that something so critical as the American Merchant Marine could somehow survive without such bribery.
Agree. It is used with a negative connotation deliberately. You never hear of the biggest single budget buster the ‘defense’ budget being called an entitlement but they sure feel entitled every year to a trillion dollars.
I don’t believe a $600 hammer, or whatever, has actually been invented yet.
We’ll never know. They have been mandated by law to pass an audit but thus far have failed to complete an audit with enough information to draw a conclusion. It’s almost like they are hiding some waste out of that trillion dollar budget. But for some reason [bribery] it never gets examined closely. The corruption is now normalized.
I will let you get away with that.
The Golden rule, He who has the gold either rules or makes the rules.
Merit matters more than money, and Harvard made the right call. Malia earned her place—no tantrums, no entitlement, just excellence. Let’s celebrate intelligence, not inherited privilege.

Barron didn’t apply for Harvard.
OK! That was just a meme, not claiming to be taken seriously, so do’t get your nickers in a twist over a meme.
In fact his Mother has denied that he even applied:
Going after the educated and universities is one of the first moves autocracies make along with going after the judiciary. The new Big Beautiful Bill provides that “No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65(c), whether issued prior to, on, or subsequent to the date of enactment of this section.” Effectively muting the courts and making their rulings unenforceable. There are other even nastier provisions in this bill.
As far as demonizing universities? I remember well Pol Pot in Cambodia killing students and professors, even executing people who wore eye glasses since that was a sign of education. Budding autocrats follow a pattern thoughout history.
Thanks -
You know the Democrats absolutely lost their historic Merle Haggard, blue collar base when their rallying cry from their spokespeople is to take billions of dollars from the working mans paychecks to give to Harvard & to import illegal immigrant gang member wife beaters TO the United States. What in the hell happened to that once semi-noble political party?
You will find, if you bother to look, that Trump isn’t going after the educated and universities. Rather he’s going after the proper spending of taxpayers money given to universities. Why should tradesmen and shop assistants (and grumpy socialist mariners) taxes subsidise the education of students in a place that will not support freedoms of speech, religion and associaton? These supposedly educated people can’t even define a woman. The more degrees they accrue, the dumber they get.
The end result is that once-legendary universities are pumping out sub-standard students because nobody can be allowed to fail and ethnic minorities (still given preference despite court rulings) and full fee paying foreigners especially so. Listen to Victor Davis Hanson, a Stanford professor, on his assessment of top universities and their miserable product. He should know.
And those same universities churn out lawyers by the shipload, all steeped in the cloying, stultifying cesspit of identity politics, marxism and antisemitism. They become the judges that think they can usurp the constitution and overrule a president exercising his authorised powers from their exalted seat of power in Dead Dog Junction courthouse.
Go Trump. They voted you in, now give it to 'em good and hard till they squeal.
Again, this is one of the issues that the Democrats need to not be so vocal about. The money in question is $300 BILLION in grants, $100 BILLION in contracts & miscellaneous BILLIONS in covid & other funds. No truck driver, soccer mom or factory worker who’s living paycheck to paycheck, taking out loans to pay for their kids college or still paying off their own student loans cares any in the slightest if Harvard Freaking University gets $400 BILLION from the Federal Government. It’s a PRIVATE university with one of the highest tuitions on the planet with one of the largest endowments. For Pete’s sake, how could the Democrats head honchos become so blind & out of touch with the suffering working class. Screw Harvard University. Harvard is a pipe dream out of reach to the overhelming vast majority & they think they’re entitled to $400 BILLION of our paycheck deductions? What in the world?
Yeah, I’m squealing over the $3 trillion Cheeto jesus is adding to the deficit over the next ten years. The number comes from the CBO.
CBO accuracy in that time frame is +/- 5%.
The guy you say is reducing debt is inflating it faster than he did even in his last administration, when he increased it by $7.8 billion.
From AP:
Congressional Budget Office, in a preliminary estimate, said the tax provisions would increase federal deficits by $3.8 trillion over the decade, while the changes to Medicaid, food stamps and other services would reduce spending by slightly more than $1 trillion over the same period.
House Republican leaders say increased economic growth would allow the bill to be deficit-neutral or deficit-reducing, but outside watchdogs are skeptical. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates the bill would add $3 trillion to the debt, including interest, over the next decade.
The $400 Billion he wants to stop giving away to the uber wealthy, elitist Private Harvard University is 13.3% of 3 Trillion dollars. The jumbo jet he shook Qatar down for cost $400 Million. The promise of the contracts he obtained for American companies from Saudi Arabia was over $4 Trillion dollars. He’s only been in office in 120 days. If he can keep that pace up, $3 Trillion extra in debt in 10 yrs won’t be a thing I suspect?
Well, the source for that number is Cheeto jesus. And you have gone on record saying you disbelieve much of what he says. With good reason.
Two minutes of research on the matter shows the truth. Here from the BBC:
“Other analysts note that a lot of the agreements signed during the trip were non-binding memorandums of understanding, which are less formal than contracts, and do not always translate into actual transactions. And some of the deals included in the agreement were announced earlier…”
Those promises were written in sand.
We’re talking about a grifter convicted of multiple felonies precisely because he inflated the worth of things.
And then I’m expected to believe him?
Yea, I can see your point. Understandable. But if those contracts produce zilch, all we need to do is cut $400 Billion in grants going to private universities, companies & individuals 7 times in the next 10 years & that will equal $3 Trillion. If Harvard gets no free money they can double their tuition & they still will have a 3.2% acceptance rate.
