Do any of you have them on board? What kind do you use? How much does it improve cell service?
We have one. I don’t know what kind it is, and some guys claim it works great and others claim its useless. But, I’m about 6 miles off the beach now with pretty good service from AT&T. No clue if the thing is actually on though…
I have use them onboard tugs. I don’t remember the brand but they work! We used to lose signal at around 3-4 miles and after they installed it we had signal as far as 8-9 miles. We also had some tugs that didn’t get any signal in the galley even at the dock and after they got them they had full bars.
Sorry I can remember the brand! But good luck!
Wilson Electronics 841262 DB Pro 65 dB Adjustable Gain 800/1900MHz In-building Wireless Smart Technology IITM Signal Booster Kit with Omni-Directional" - this works great
You should get a cell phone jammer instead for a few laughs, I mean who really wants to listen to a seaman’s personal calls?
Bouchard Transportation made all the tugs and barges remove the signal boosters last year due to some states that ban them from use, you may want to check the state laws prior to your purchase.](http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/nationnow/la-nn-na-cell-phone-jammer-20120302,0,4217282.story)
