On behalf of my mother, my twelve brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins . . . our entire extended family, I’d like to thank all the mariners and shipmates who have contacted us with messages of condolence after the death of our father last week. You have always taken care of us and him in hard times.
Pop was teaching a class on aids to navigation when he collapsed. Within seconds he was surrounded by seamen, the finest most buoyant company in the world.
