0:11 - Kim Roger: Yes hello. We got into a bit of trouble here. We have engine failure, we took a bag in the wings. I’m close by Ånstad here out by the Lofoten point. 76 50.85 12 55.48. There’s a lot of wind on shore here, we don’t have far to go. We’re trying to set iron here, then we’ll see how that goes.
0:40 - Coastal Radio: Are you a lot of people on board there?
0:43 - Kim Roger: We’re five man on board.
0:45 - Coastal Radio: Yeah, you’ll have to try to get out what you’ve got there, we’ll try to get you some help. Do you have any boats close by?
0:54: - Kim Roger: No, we haven’t seen a single one. You just have to send the SAR boat, and see if they manage to reach us before we go on the beach. We’ve got emergency equipment, so it’s okay, if it goes that far. We’ll see how it goes.
1:06 - Coastal Radio: Kim Roger?
1:08 - Kim Roger: Yeah, I heard you, I was just a down for a quick trip to the engine room. What’s up?
1:12 - Yeah, we’ve got a SAR boat coming your way from Ballstad now.
1:17 - Kim Roger: Yeah, I guess that’s the quickest we can do. Well well, we’ll see how it goes.
1:23 - HRS (Rescue Coordinator): Kim Roger, Bodø Radio. We’ve got a chopper in the air, he’ll be at your location in about 20 minutes. The SAR boat will be there in approximately 30 minutes.
1:38 - Kim Roger: I heard you. You’ll just have to ask them to put the hammer down, it’s a question of a short fucking time now. We’re running the thrusters and trying to keep off, but I don’t know it’ll work.
1:50 - HRS: No, I see. You’ll just have to get in the immersion suits, so…
1:55 - Sea King: Kim Roger, this is rescue helicopter on Bodø channel 16.
2:01 - Kim Roger: Yeah, I hear you, helicopter, I hear you.
2:05 - Sea King: We’re just passing Helligvær, we’ll be with you in 13 minutes. One three minutes.
2:09 - Kim Roger: That’s okay, we’ll see if we signed on for that long. We don’t get the iron to bite, either, so we’re in the breakers any moment now. Do what you can.
2:22 - Sea King: We’re at full speed, so we’re coming as fast as we can. Do you have an opinion on whether it’s possible to winch directly from the boat?
2:35 - Kim Roger: No, we’re on the rocks any moment now. I don’t think that’ll be possible at all. We’ll probably have to go in the breakers.
2:42 - HRS: Saver two zero, Bodø Radio.
2:46 - Sea King: Saver two zero responding to Bodø Radio.
2:49 - HRS: I don’t know if you have visual contact yet, but looking at the chart, it looks like he’s actually on the rocks now.
2:55 - Sea King: I don’t have visual contact by now, but we’ll be there in about 8 minutes.
3:01 - HRS: Yeah, you’ll just have to let us know when you see what’s going on.
3:05 - Sea King: We’re prepared to winch them either from the boat, the raft or the sea. We’re probably prepared for what we’ll find. But we don’t have visual contact so far.
3:15 - HRS: [SAR boat] Norske Veritas is on its way, so they’re probably there in 20 minutes, I guess.
3:23 - Sea King: Bodø Radio, we’re at the wreck site now, commencing winching ops. We see people on the boat, and they’re on the rocks.
3:34 - HRS: Copy that. Is the boat beating against the rocks, or has it gone up on shore?
3:40 - Sea King: He’s beating against the rocks.
3:49 - Sea King: Bodø Radio, Saver Two Zero. We’ve got two men on board who have been in the water, and there are three men who are clinging to the boat, which is listing 90 degrees. The SAR boat should continue towards the area, and we’ll get back to you wen we’ve gotten further with the operation.
4:06 - HRS: Norske Veritas, Bodø Radio here. I presume that you’ve heard what’s going on?
4:17 - Yes, we’re up to date, so we’re proceeding towards the position. We don’t have so far to go, three NM or so.
4:25 - Sea King: The boat is beating against a rock, and is semi submerged, with a 90 degree list. We’ve taken all five on board, there has been fuel in the water, so the doctor is tending to the patients.
4:50 - SAR boat: Copy that, [inaudible].
4:52 - HRS: Is it right that you have all five on board, and that you’re taking them to Bodø?
5:00 - Sea King: We’re on course for Bodø, ETA five past 12. We suspect that some of them have possibly ingested fuel, and then there are some minor lacerations. Apart from that, they all seem to be in decent shape.
