C.captain vehicle fleet being downsized and want my friends here to have first shot

I suggest you modify the “command unit” box to fit on the back of this thing! Then you really would have the ultimate BUG OUT rig!!
I thought you got the truck specifically so you could carry your girlfriend in the back. Something about an F-450 bed not being able to hold enough weight…
I’ll have you know my lady doesn’t need me to use a 5 ton truck to take her out to eat at the Golden Corral on fish fry Friday!

I mean a simple deuce and a half works quite fine for her!

A fine idea but the Army had van bodies for these 5 tons rigs as it is so I am better to find one of those ready to drop on without the mods plus preserving the value of my F-600. I just wonder what the odds are I’ll find one of those within 500miles of where I live?

course, I might get really lucky and find me a pointy stick launcher for my truck!

Very cool truck, color me jealous!!!

Do these things have a syncromesh? Or are you double clutching it.

How the hell do I know? I haven’t even set eyes on the thing yet alone drive it but I has got to have syncros in all the gears above first. Even my F-600 has syncros!

Wikipedia tells me that most military vehicles have synchronized transmissions, so you’re all set.

Yeah, I found all the Army TM’s for this truck so confirmed that the gearbox is syncromesh in all gears including first but that doesn’t mean you don’t still have to double clutch on occasion.

Found out a couple of other things about my truck. It is equipped with the turbo known as the “whistler” which I guess screams like a banshee at any speed. It does have a winch and that is a plow yoke on the front. The department still has the plow for it (a big hurking V shaped one they said) but they aren’t letting me have it with the truck so looks like I’ll have to buy the thing separately but hopefully not for more than scrap value. I have no idea if I would ever have cause to use it living where I do, but it is worth having. I imagine with the power and gearing the truck has, that it would be able to plow 5’ deep without too much trouble. Woe betide any car that is in the way buried under a drift though! Probably wouldn’t even feel spearing it!

So I once again want to offer a nice finder’s fee (Scotch or Rum of your choice) to anyone who can locate me a cargo bed or better yet a box for the back. Needs to be 14’ as opposed to the 12’ standard beds off of an M35A2 deuce. Preferably it would be from either an M54 or a M813 (which were pretty much identical trucks except the later series have Cummins diesels instead of the Continental dual fuel engines). No commercial beds though, I want it to be military only and needs to be west of the Rockies. There have got to be some out there somewhere sitting. Also nothing all rusted out of beat to shit. I can always have a welding shop modify a deuce bed for me if I had to and they seem to be somewhat more readily available.

Lastly, nobody interested in the F600? Never going to find another!
