Unless your disposable income is in the 9 figure region (not including .00) perhaps begin with a mental health evaluation.

Your concerns appreciated
But Only the person who have money to buy will be asking this…

i always knew its Just a common sense…Perhaps common sense is not sooo common now a days…

what do want the boat for, what is your use? sail or power? cruise the internet all brokers have web sites and find a boat that you think may fit your need and is your budget
think about where you are gonna berth it. berthing is often difficult to find
once you have found the boat go for a ride and see if this is what you want, i presume you know how to sail or operate a boat under power
get a qualified surveyor to look it over, this might include dry docking for a look at the bottom

for a 40 ft used boat your income would need to be in the six figure range as you will always be dumbing money into it for maintenance

google up some books on boat buying and read them

I don’t normally redirect away from this site, but The Cruisers forum will be more suited to what you’re looking for.

I have one. Send me all your money and she’ll be on her way

But that person wouldn’t be asking here.

Thehulltruth.com would be a better place to ask this question.

There are two good days in owning a boat. The day you buy it and the day you sell it.

Cocaine is God’s way of telling you you are making too much money. Robin Williams.

He probably made yachts for the same reason but it’s easier to get rid of cocaine and move on afterwards. SP

The truly Best day is when Your best friend buys a yacht.

What region of the world do you want to operate it? How far will you travel to buy it?

I am 99% sure this is some kind of troll.

200%

I hate to sound yatchty-racists or whatever but it’s really hard for me to tell bullshitter or not when dealing with yatchties. From my limited time in south Florida & working with former yatchties who upgraded to professional mariner, most of them have the used car/timeshare salesman vibe to them. Some of them turned out to be decent folk even after raising several of my bullshit red flags at first. Those people are hard to peg, for me at least.

OK - Imagine I said “I want to buy an oil tanker. I don’t know anything about them, can you help me out?”
What would the odds be that I actually want to buy an oil tanker? 0%?

I think it’s more like, “I had a drunken wet dream about yachts last night, and I’d like for you to do all the homework and analysis about it.”
