Sailing school experience and connections are a great start for sailboat deliveries.
OTOH getting a fisherman from Alaska is a great thing on a sailboat. Even if they can’t sail, they perform a valuable service by telling the rest of the crew “this isn’t rough weather, we get bigger waves than this in our bathtubs in Alaska, so shut the **** up and get back to work” even if in the middle of a Cat 6 hurricane!
We usually have the good drugs too
Yah but…a yachtie never has to deal with Murphy’s Law of commercial fishing. As soon as your fingers become coated with jellyfish slime, your nose begins to itch and you have to pee right away.
We hire fishermen for that sort of thing!

The numbness in your hands is the worst during culling. It goes away after a bit, but still sucks. My freezer was full pulling a small net on my time off. My gosh love Outer Banks.
