Which schools offer the most intensive highest quality Med-PIC courses?
Good question, and what’s up with the requirement to have taken first aid provider within a year or whatever?
Take it at MaMa’s in Norfolk.
Did mine at TRL in san diego. Great class I really felt like I got a lot out of it.

Same arrogant douche possibly teaches at PMI as well.He is a part time OS on the John Brown liberty ship in Baltimore, (who has never actually gone to sea) who continually insists he is a mariner, just like all of his MED Pic students. I swear he might as well be claiming he was the Bosun on Capt Bligh’s "Long Voyage."Bonafide Napoleon complex. 10 days of that guy is a lifetime.
Funny, I have had people recommend MITAGS and PMI. I have also gone to courses elsewhere with MMP guys who would rather pay for an outside course instead of taking it for free at PMI. They don’t offer it very often.
Calhoun gets good reports so far, but Med-PIC is seldom scheduled.
So far, I am most impressed with Remote Medical International, but I’m not ready to spend 26 days in their excellent course.

That’s not a Coast Guard requirement per se, and the courses that have it are comparatively few. There is some repetition of the Provider material in the required content of the PIC course, it’s meant to be a refresher as it may have been years since the provider course was taken if it was taken at all - until the new STCW rule (which won’t go into full effect until 2017) no one was required to take medical care provider (it was in STCW 95, but until we had regulations calling for it, it could not be enforced). The Medical PIC courses that have the co-requisite for Medical Care Provider do not have the refresher content, thus the requirement for having taken the provider course in the past year (if you took the provider course recently, it’s assumed you remember it and don’t need a refresher).
The take away of this is don’;t shop for the shortest course. Make sure to read the course’s approval and make sure it will do what you need.
He is indeed a pain! Didn’t listen to him for that long, a few hours was bad enough.
MPT in Ft Lauderdale was a good class. 10 days. 2 days spend in the E/R at a hospital.

Roger that.
I just did Med Pro there a few weeks ago.
During the practical demonstration, I had a bit of difficulty with the mechanical traction device.
He says to me in a most condescending tone, “this isn’t rocket science”.
After the class was dismissed, I had a few condescending words of my own in private with him.
Think what you want about that MITAGS instructor, but I’ll tell you what, the guy knows his stuff. Sure he’s arrogant and full of himself and has that Napoleon complex, but I got a lot out of the course. If you’re having trouble with an aspect of the course, he will stay behind on his own time and help you out.

I’m glad you did that, very few do. I’ve had the same experiences with him and the same fruitless “side discussions.”
The little prick is one of very teachers at MITAGS who is also technically a member of MMP, which means pension and can not be fired from that position w/o good cause and probably review board.
I spoke with the Director of MITAGS about him and all of this shit he pulls. G.Paine acted all surprised. But I’m not going to act surprised that he is still there.
For all you guys that go deal with that jackass, do not be kind in the evaluation and don’t hesitate to get Glenn Paine’s ear.
His vast knowledge and skills as an EMT are not worth his ego in the classroom.
