Has anyone else seen this: http://news.nauticexpo.com/press/fjellstrand-as/fully-battery-driven-ferry-from-fjellstrand-32285-208319.html?
I was surprised as entirely electric ships do not seem to be feasibly reliable. Too good to be true? Thoughts?

Electric is fine, not problems with that. But where do you get your electrical energy from ?
There are diesel-electric boats, combustion engine driving a generator for sufficient electrical power.
Some cruising ships are using this scheme.
A ferry, like show in your article, can be a good application for a battery powered boat. If the crossing is short it will spend as much time on the shore loading/unloading as at sea traversing, so you have enough time to charge the batteries between crossings.
plug in to the grid when you get to the dock
Just another, “shift the pollution to where the poor people live” technology
I’m all for it
At the end of the day the power station can make power more efficiently than a vessel, if its nuclear or hydro then its a win

A 20 minute run with recharging facilities at each end, how can it not work?
