I love old sailing ships, and applaud this initiative and effort.
But cargo schooners and fishing schooners, like the original Bluenose built in Lunenburg, NS, were expected to last about 20 years and pay off in that time. When I chatted with some Bluenose II crew in Baltimore about 30 years ago, she was already long in the tooth with most frames sistered. And Bluenose II was built in the same place, to the same scantlings.
Just sayin’.
Wasted resources. Jimmy Carter could have built a few houses that would last much longer and do more good.
