Nobody’s perfect…
I digressed after getting more info to your original post. I quit flying after many thousands of miles since before 2003. They all scare the shit out of me knowing what I seemingly know now. Boeing, Airbus, etc. take your pick. I will not be a passenger no matter what nationality flies the plane. Nor take a cruise anytime soon. I would be better off rediscovering my good ole USA by visiting historical and scenic places I’ve never been. And do it with 4 wheels on the ground.
they were also way higher than the glide slope which the tower kept telling them so it was a pretty good demonstration of everything you can do wrong when trying to land
Unskilled clown show it appears?
Does appear lack of skill was apparent. All the more reason I have stayed off of planes smarter than the operators. Will take my chances on the highway with my trusty co-pilot.
Not the first time…

It appears in most crashes we see in the last 10-20 years, it would’ve been much better if the smart plane would have been allowed to fly itself.
Sad, but true.It boggles my small mind. Grand Canyon is a destination, as well as Price is Right. Will discard the prizes unless it is cash.
so autonomous ships and autonomous aircraft will crash less, true or false?
LOL, have no answer for that. Trust a robot/someone in a dark room, or a " trained '" pilot/mate/master looking out the window? Take your pick. Driving my SUV with less than a thousand miles since purchase in November due to pandemic . I will take my chances on the highway rather than air or cruise travel. Not that safe either, but safer for now than the others. A robot will not be driving my vehicle, just my bride and I.
Maybe you should reconsider?:

But at least YOU are in control yourself, not some idiot that know nothing.
PS> Stick to 4 wheels. Two wheels are worse than anything.
That is my theory, we quit riding Harleys years ago. Thx Bug.
pilot goes to sleep, plane is on autopilot
car driver goes to sleep and…
ships like planes make very few turns on long passages, easy job for a computer
I agree. Statistically I know I am safer flying commercial than driving to the airport but I still wonder about the guy upfront when not on a major carrier. I used to do some flying myself many years ago and even got into aerobatics in a mild mannered Bellanca Citabria [airbatic spelled backwards] until I couldn’t afford it. But, I have never been on but two roller coasters in my life and women were involved in both of those poor decisions. Roller coasters scare the hell out of me because I have no idea who is in control and who maintains them.
Putting pictures from the link here because few saw how awesome they were…yeah 747 landed gear up! Intertubes says plane was repaired

Nice, but still ain’t flying Johnny.
PIA pilots need to be reminded to lower the landing gear prior to landing. It’s too late after the landing as these pilots found out.
Breakdown of PIA botched approach prior to the latest PIA crash:
Given their speed profile I suspect that the gear refused when they asked for it.
It boggles the imagination.
The flight crew did not effectively scan and monitor the primary flight instrumentation parameters during the landing and the attempted go-around. The flight crew were unaware that the autothrottle (A/T) had not responded to move the engine thrust levers to the TO/GA position after the Commander pushed the TO/GA switch at the initiation of the FCOM ̶ Go-around and Missed Approach Procedure.[31]
These pilots are incompetent morons, sitting in the seat because mommy/daddy have connections. How does one not notice the plane is not speeding up!?
In the case of one Manama, Bahrain, harbor pilot, yeah.
