Wondering if any of you guys have used them, and if they are actually decent, ive been getting the run around and planning on making the 4hr drive to the office on monday. Now they dont answer the phone and the voicemail box is full, been about 8 wks waiting, just wondering if any of you are in the same boat with them. Anyone have a # of someone else who is good in the northeast ?
I don’t think it’s worth it. With what we make now you really need a fuckload of expenses and at that not really worth the risk of extra attention. Any professional tax preparer (pro, not a weekend warrior at HR block) should be able to handle it if you indeed have expenses enough to deduct. Doesn’t sound like the run around from them is worth it.

Your comments about their failing to answer phone calls or be able to leave messages should tell you all you need to know.
:mad:For the first time in years I changed my tax preparer. I saw Maguire Taxes online, it kind of looked like a scam but went for it any way (should of listened to my guy). Now my usual guy would only take about a week or two for the taxes to be completed. I submitted the online form on the website at the end of March. It has been close to 9 weeks now. I have been getting the run around as well. Stating Mr. Maguire was on a personal emergency for several weeks. Well then maybe don’t accept any new people?! I don’t understand. Every email response is, should be done by the end of the week. I hope they filed an extension for me, this is getting out of hand.

I agree. Ignore this sentence “i agree” wasn’t long enough to post, lol…
Guess i will find out monday, had heard good things about him, and had wondered with this being a somewhat “small world” if any of you had used them.

How did your meeting go with Maguire? Had thought about switching to them as well and looking for your feedback. Thanks.
I talked to someone in their office monday and he claimed they would be done this week. The owner left for some reason ??? In the middle of tax season,no phone call, no email, nothing. Its been about 10wks they have had my stuff, im not impressed. Waiting for my paperwork in the mail but these people are assholes, they will not get my business again and i will make sure everyone who asks me gets the full story. I was hoping they would be good to deal with, my business at home has taken off and i dont like the local accountants around here and figured since they do businesses try them this yr and then see about them doing my business returns. Not a fucking snowballs chance in hell of that happening now.
I used them for the 2013 and 2014 tax seasons. First year he was great and seemed like he was excited to work with me, talked about himself a lot, but that was that. The next year he bumped up the price, no problem, but sat there miserable and did my taxes in about 5 minutes. He didn’t ask once about any of my expenses which worried me and is my own fault or any of my plans in the future (houses, investments, etc.) if my taxes can take five minutes I’m probably going to be switching or attempting to do them myself next or with the help of a CPA.
yes for about %95 of us there’s nothing special about our returns. If you try and beat the system odds are it will eventually catch up to you; the IRS is one agency I have no interest in dealing with.
Unless you have a “complicated” return, like an actually business, tons of investments, 1099 incomes, alimony, it’s really a 15-20 minute job at the most for someone who knows their shit. My wife and I are in and out from our guy in no more than 20 minutes, although we have everything in order ready to go when we show up. That includes two six figure incomes, mortgage, investments (usually a few dozen transactions), and all the other normal things.
When we were single it made sense to DIY but as a married couple it’s easier to let the expert say whatever, rather than us argue about who’s right.
Nothing has shown up,and no return phone call. Short of getting off the boat and choking this cocksucker out in the lobby ive got the lawyer sending a certified letter demanding my paperwork and money back.
