Thanks,
Took them about a year or two ago.
Nothing crazy if you’ve been doing the practice exams on lapware, upgradeU, etc.
Make sure you remember how to plot a planet on your rude star finder. Don’t slip up on easy questions like high-altitude body fixes.
Don’t get too obsessed with stability, it’s a 70% passing score after all.
Not too far from the 3Ms exam to be honest. I found it easier actually because it wasn’t my first time taking CG exams this time around. Good luck!
Thank you very much
I took and passed mine a couple of weeks ago.
Its not bad at all especially if you took the third mate exams in the last few years. A lot of it will come back to you pretty quickly. Rules is the same, the gens/safety are nothing to worry about. Near coastal and chart plot are easy but the margin of error is pretty small since you can only get one wrong. I actually had to retake the near coastal nav problems because of a silly mistake so attention to detail is important. Stability isnt too bad and you only need a 70 as stated above, you should have gone over most of it in the advanced stability class. Cel nav adds a few new things, make sure you at least check it out ahead of time, things like plotting minor stars.
I think its a viable strategy if youre limited for time, just try to go 7 or 8 for 9 and then focus on the last two when you have time. Lapware of course for the problems, sea trials to study the gens and general knowledge. Good luck, its a great feeling of accomplishment when you get through it. I’m happy to answer any other questions you may have.
Thank you and certainly, shoot me a text at 6788089433
Took it end of last year. Almost identical types of problems to the sample exams.
