A New Chapter

I’m not sure how many people have been with a company so long that it was very difficult to quit. I decided to take a position at Pacific Drilling after 15 years with Edison Chouest Offshore, and Master on the Island Enforcer. I recommend Edison Chouest Offshore for anyone. It is without doubt, still, the best boat company out there in my opinion, and upper management has always been very good to me, but I believe I made the right choice by moving on for one reason only - increased time at home to spend more time with my nephew that lost his father, but not lose in money while meeting that goal. After being Master for such a long period, this will certainly be a change, falling into a Chief Mate position, but I think having a new challenge will help drive my natural competitiveness to be better than most at what I do. Time will tell. Off to a new chapter…

Good luck Anchorman, sorry to see you go. After 32 years at my last job I know how you feel. I have only been here 3 years and I feel the same about ECO. Fair winds and clam seas…

Good luck to you, Anchorman. Most of us here understand the need to make changes, and respect you for knowing when to do it.

We look forward to your future posts. They are always great reading.

Good luck!! Let us know how you like it! I always wonder how different would be to go from work boats to drill ships!

I am sure your modesty will be a big asset too
Good luck in your new endeavor. I think you’ll find it’s really not that big of a change, you just got to walk further and fill out more paper.

Best of luck anchorman. I know how you fell, I was scared to death to leave the security of MSC after 17 years. But it was the right move.

Your nephew is blessed to have you in his life. You’ll never regret this.
