500 person boat charter in Chicago?

A friend who, 7 years ago, helped motivate us to launch gCaptain and our sister site UnofficialNetworks.com sent me the following email.

I am looking to hire a boat for a 500 plus person party out of Chicago and am having trouble securing a charter. I have tried to buy out entire ferries but I am having no luck. If you have any suggestions perhaps a more commercial type vessel it would be most appreciated.

I let him know that getting a boat for that many people is a long shot but… do any any if you in the great lakes have any ideas for him?

I think Odyssey is still the largest passenger vessel out of Chicago.

We accomodate groups from 2 to 749. We are constantly opening new cruises so please check back often or call if you don’t see the date you are interested in.

I worked for odyssey one in Boston and her master at the time had taken the II in Chicago out of shipyard. He said she was a great boa and I enjoyed working for the company. Very professional organization.

I’m pretty sure they that the charter by now.
