Working on the rivers, want to get to harbor/costal/offshore looking for even schedule

Hello, I’ve been working on the rivers for around 9 months now, I have enough sea time for my AB limited I believe but money is a bit tight right now and I can’t really afford to drop close to 1k on a AB class right now

I’m trying to get off the rivers for some better pay and long term career goals and I’m really looking for a day for day schedule, I don’t mind being away but I hate feeling like a visitor in my own home

Any company suggestions? I’m located in Florida but I’m willing to travel, I’ve applied what feels like everywhere but I’m not hearing anything back, and the 20/10 is starting to cause some burn out and I’m also working for one the lowest paying major companies on the river

Thanks everyone in advance

I know I’m not the most experienced candidate but I’m just trying to see if something sticks before I burn my self out

Kirby has a little division in Miami that does bunkering. You can get your tankeman cert there and get a lot of loads and discharges in a short time.

Now for the blunt truth part… Having enough time to get an AB means your credential says OS which is all anyone cares about. And you have enough sea time for an AB while working twice as much as you are home, and still can’t afford one of the cheapest classes. You haven’t prioritized your career.

I get your point but respectfully you have no idea what’s going on in my life to understand why I can’t afford it

Save your money on the AB course. If you live within a reasonable distance of a REC, self study and take the test at the REC.
