Who's to blame for Covid-19?

SARS-CoV-2

That was Kellyanne Conway on Fox news and she said:

“This is covid-19 not covid-1, folks, and so you would think that the people in charge of the World Health Organization facts and figures would be on top of that.”

Hah! Didn’t see that one.

What I heard was on Tuesday 14 April, on either Hannity or Limbaugh radio show. It was a male caller. I know because I was driving that day, about fourteen hours, and talk radio keeps me alert.

That clip you linked was from when she said it on Wednesday, 15 April. Maybe she learned about COVID-1 through COVID-18 from the caller the day before?

Maybe. Or maybe there’s another source they both watched that enlightened them. It sounds like something Alex Jones would come up with.

Our roads would keep you alert. Until the arrival of adaptive cruise control most people would be unable to turn it on without stopping and digging out `the manual.

I do respect a good journalist, there just aren’t that many out there. IMO

Your level of confidence should be zero, I thought this was cleared up on national television in front of millions of Americans:

"You call it a germ, you can call it a flu, you can call it a virus. You know, you can call it many different names. I’m not sure anybody even knows what it is," - DJT 27 March 2020

Don’t forget this gem:

“Antibiotics used to solve every problem. Now, one of the biggest problems the world has is… the germ has gotten so brilliant that the antibiotic can’t keep up with it… there’s a whole genius to it… not only is it hidden, but it’s very smart.”

Either way, you know she practiced that line in the mirror before giving that interview. A real zinger for those libturds there Kelly!

It was cleared up when @freighterman1 directly answered the question I asked him as opposed to what you attempted to do.

Quote him, quote me on an unrelated question then attempt to tie them together to fit a quote from the president on yet another unrelated topic? Nice. Recommend you send your resume to Lauren Williams at vox.com. They’re looking those with your special set of skills.

Sorry, I should have ordered my quotes in a different order so it was more clear. He answered OP with “Chinese horseshoe bats”, you said “What’s your confidence” (along with a snide remark about going on record), he said “zero” and “its a germ”, I agreed with his zero confidence based on a quote from the President from the daily briefing. The question to the president was What do we tell the children, and in this case I didn’t see that as unrelated since you’re all being children, and since the president seldom answers the question on topic its hard to tell what topic its related to…My mistake.

But I digress, since I never attempted to answer OP question to begin with. I agree its ambiguous. Who’s to blame?

Who’s to blame for the creation? We’re not virologists, so I don’t know how the virus came to be in the first animal that carried this mutation. By all reports it was the cultural and physical situation in Wuhan that allowed for the spread of the virus to humans.

Who’s to blame for the spread with-in China? The spread was inevitable with that many people in close proximity. However, silencing the doctors who first discovered it prevented more rapid appropriate response.

Who’s to blame for the spread from China? Again, I see this as inevitable with the sheer number of people traveling globally every day. And also again the muffling and censorship from the Chinese government in (december?) did no favors for understanding the implication of that spread.

Who’s to blame for the spread in every other country? Many countries handled the situation differently, with different levels of societal change and different timelines for implementation. Initially, I don’t think anyone gets the blame. You can perhaps give credit for policies that worked to those who implemented them. You can also maybe give credit for emergency response preparations to those had a hand in creating the preparation plans to begin with.

I do think it’s fair to criticize the response in this country. We can’t blame China for censoring their doctors, scientists, and hiding information when we, at various levels of government are censoring our doctors, scientist, and spreading mis-information or falsehoods. We can’t say that we were unprepared because no-one has seen anything like this when we have progressively cut funding to, and personnel from, the very federal organizations tasked with preparing for exactly this.

Good that you know… Carry on

Donald?

In reality, it’s called COVID-19 because the virus was discovered in 2019.

The “19” has nothing to do with how many viruses came before it, i.e. 1 through 18.

Also, it’s a virus and antibiotics don’t work with viruses.

Yeah, we all know this, except apparently for those in positions of power announcing it on TV/radio. If they didn’t know they were wrong that is highly irresponsible. If they did know they were wrong it is indefensible. It’s statements like this from the government that can and will be used for the Who’s to Blame conversation about the results of the virus.

They’re just out to make “liberals’ heads explode”, and feed the mouth-breathers don’tcha know. There’s no regard for collateral damage, nor is there any regard for factual accuracy.

Really?
You must be a top scientist!

We, dumb folks, would never have thought of such an unknown discovery!

No Urs, I’m not a top scientist. If you spent a little more time to read the specific comments I was responding to, you wouldn’t need to make such irrelevant and sarcastic comments.

But, since you admit you’re “dumb”, I can understand why you make dumb comments.
