Hello everyone! Curious how smaller operators or independent vessels handle weather routing. Do you use a paid service like StormGeo or is it just apps (e.g. Windy) and gut instinct at that scale? Is there anything you wish existed that doesn’t - whether that’s a tool, a data feed, anything. And has the weather ever caught you off guard?
I would guess it varies by the captain. I know that, although I’m not a sailor yet, I trust my gut way sooner than any app. Live radar is good if you have someone who can interpret it. But I’d guess that each independent boat has its own method of predicting the weather.
