Yeah, I don’t have a lot of stuff myself. . . about the only thing that I would like to pass on are all of the racing photos I have been shooting for the last 12 years or so. I have a couple of portable hard drives (oh, but lost one, darn it) and most are online. . . my kids aren’t into it. . . so I have to leave them to someone who may be interested. . .
Many of us will retire only to find it isn’t what we thought/hoped it would be. I read one Insurance companies stats that if a person worked all of his life and retired to just sit and do very little that they would be dead within 24 months. Thus some of them had hobbies and projects to work on when they retired and lived a lot longer. Still more and more retired age 66 years of age are going back to work again.
Bureau of Labor Statistics was cited on PBS Evening News awhile back stating that by 2024 that up to 1/3 of the workforce will be age 70 and older.
Companies are finally waking up to the cost of training young people who really don’t want to work anyhow and taking a long second look at how expensive it is to have older employees retire or leave for another job with better pay and benefits.

I had a co-worker who was early retired in 2015 during the slump. He never looked for another job afterwards & became a recreational marijuana user again. When I worked with him he told everyone that he used to be a pothead in his late teen/early 20, might pick it back up when he retired & that is what he did. Freaking old hippies!
What’s the deal with driving slow in the passing lane? How do you know it’s time to start doing that? Will the Social Security Administration send me a letter, an email or will they send someone to my house to let me know?
Have some compassion. After you retire, driving is a time for reflection and thinking about how awesome you used to be. Besides, as you morph into geezer mode, you also have keep an eye out for the next bathroom.
This year due to my age I have to get my eyes tested and re-sit my drivers licence. My optometrist tells me I should have no trouble with the eye test and I have a truck license. Does the US have an age where a re-test is required for driving?
Funny. I keep waiting on that letter, until then I assume I-95 means I supposed to go 95.
I think many driving slow in the left lane THINK they are going fast after swallowing a handful of pills with breakfast.
You can drive faster and not get a ticcket if you have a state of art radar detector but it won’t make the slow pokes move out of the way.

Some states require an in-person appearance and vision test above a certain age. In Virginia and many others, it’s 80. I don’t think any require a new “road test.”

I had to appear in person my last renewal (I was 59), but I think that was less a factor of age and more of a factor of compliance with the new Federal standard.

Probably. You must live in state that decided to only wait 14 years to implement “Real ID” and not wait another year until the last possible moment, like Virginia. I renewed (by mail) last month, and my daughter got her first license in September, and they still aren’t compliant, less than a year before the deadline. Fortunately we have passports so we don’t need to renew 4+ years early just to be able to get on a plane.
I just paid $10 or $15 for a duplicate license, not a renewal, in NC. I fly to much.
