The first time I loaded fuel in tons for volume (not bbl or m3) I was confused. It got worse when tons/hour was used in place of pressure.

When I asked how many BTUs the quoted HP could move the guy couldn’t tell me. I told him I wasn’t trying to remove horses so that little tidbit of information was kinda important. Eventually I looked up the conversion and also got the manufacturers specs. Later I was told that Daikin instructed them to quote in hp based on room size. No mention of R values, occupancy, windows etc., just room size, so no need for all that other superfluous information. It was a “developing” country.

Question is if mass and force are different things why can tons(mass) be converted to ton-force just by changing the units to “ton- force”? Same with lbm and lbf.
It’s because it works if one uses standard gravity.
