Freddy’s Anchor Bar in FT Laud moved from its US1 and SR 84 corner to Andrews Ave. just north of SR 84. In its place is a huge Mercedes Benz dealership. The MB dealer bought the entire corner lot by lot. Freddy’s held out for a loooooooooooong time. As the MB would buy a parcel he would tear whatever was on it down. Freddy’s stood like a lone oasis for years.
I heard when it finally did sell (for a huge sum, btw) Freddy took real good care of his longtime employees.
The last time I was in FT L Freddy’s was boarded up as the result of a fire over a year ago.
The Southport Raw Bar had the bumper stickers “Eat Oysters- live longer-last longer-love longer” which I have seen all over the world.
Anyone remember the Rathskeller in Morgan City?
I also spent some time in the Seamans Mission bar in Amsterdam. Two hours in there and you smelled like cigarette smoke the next day.
