USCG Medical Provider/PIC validity outside US

Dear people,

I am a newbie, so please excuse my ignorance. I will be sailing (as a crew member in a catamaran) in Caribbean and in Mediterranean soon, for which I need to get certified in medical first aid. My question is if I get USCG Medical Care Provider/PIC certified, will it be acceptable as is in Caribbean and Mediterranean? Or will I need additional endorsements?

Best regards!

Maybe or maybe not. It will depend on the flag of the vessel you employed aboard, and flag state requirements.

It would be reasonable for you at an entry level to take First Aid / CPR, and possibly Med Care Provider, but definitely not an advanced two week course like MedPIC.

A school like MPTUSA.com which trains for the yachting industry and is approved to teach both USCG approved and UK MCA approved STCW courses could probably answer your questions.
