From the link:

The U.S. Senate last night passed the James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023 by a vote of 83-11, clearing the way for it to go to the White House for signature into law. It provides $45 billion more for defense than called for in the Biden administration’s budget request.

Hmmmm, why would our wise controllers of the purse give MOAR money than requested?

So it turns out that the money to buy Aivik was cut from the final Homeland Security appropriations finalized just before Christmas. Nothing in the stocking for ECO after all.

So their fat cat friends at the defense contractors can stay happy.

More or mother of all rackets? I’ll go with congressional racketeering. The increase is what it costs the taxpayer to repay all of those tax deductible campaign contributions to the mobsters who sign the check.
