First post for me!
I’m hoping some of the experts here can help me out a little. I am new to this industry and was wondering if I am heading in the right direction. I have my TWIC and I will be going to knock out the four classes for the STCW in a week or two. As long as I am working on a ship that is under 100 tons, is the MMC required or will my TWIC and the STCW be enough to start? I would be willing to do deckhand type of work since I have no previous experience on a ship.
I have zero experience but I have a friend who has been telling me about this. I’m wanting to wait on the MMC since I am paying out of pocket for the STCW classes. Any information would be appreciated. This is starting to sound better than trucking.
