On Thursday a tugboat drove against the Kattwyk Bridge in the Port of Hamburg.

Probably because of a technical defect

The wheelhouse had been severely damaged:

The crew had suffered slight scratches, said a police spokesman in the evening.

The bridge was initially closed to road traffic on Thursday evening. However, shipping traffic was possible.

The final report from the Federal Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation:

The wheelhouse was completely destroyed; only minor injuries.

A curious investigation:
The tug had no VDR (not mandatory).
The captain refused to say anything.
The crew could/would not help the investigation.
The alarm log did not show any fault until the wheelhouse was shaved off.

The only possible conclusion: Human error!
