I’m sure you understand the the rudiments of the system as well or as poorly as a lot of Americans .
Like a lot of Americans you don’t seem to understand that our government is divided into three coequal branches of government. Congress and SCOTUS by design have as much power as the president. When you say..
… you don’t understand the Supreme Court is the arbiter of the Constitution. If they decide a lower court’s ruling limiting the power of the president is constitutional then the president must obey that lower court’s ruling.
If the president doesn’t then we have a constitutional crisis. If the crisis goes on long enough the Constitution becomes null, de facto. And then we have civil war.
Which is why heretofore presidents always backed off when they neared the red line of acting unconstitutionally. They respected the fact that presidents come and go. What matters is preserving adherence to the Constitution.
CJ doesn’t give a fuck about all that.
Elsewhere you express an opinion that Congress must pass CJ’s agenda. No, they don’t. Congress is a coequal branch of government, whose allegiance must always be to the constitution.
They can tell the president to fuck off. It is their duty to tell him to fuck off anytime there is a whiff of unconstitutionality in the president’s actions.
People forget that at times in history Congress’s power was stronger than the president’s (late 19th century), and the Speaker of the House was far more influential.
BTW Congress is waking up. All those DOGE cuts— they weren’t cuts. They were Hollywood drama. DOGE is a dud. Congress holds the debit card. Congress decides what will be cut. And if you read the news you’ll find that Congress is not going to pass more than a small fraction of those cuts.
Which is their duty. Because they are a separate and coequal branch of government.
