News announced this morning:
I’ve been wondering when Transocean would begin to buy up other drilling companies. It has been their way for a long time but it seemed that they were sitting on the sidelines longer than would normally be expected. Interesting though that they paid a 60+% premium to acquire Aker.
I wonder who will be next? Pacific?

I don’t see Pacific selling now. Not with the strategy that I have read from the Ofer Group. Hell, they managed to buy ship yard slots at Samsung and flipped those to the point of self-capitalizing a private drilling company - where they realized the best value. That vision has not even materialized yet, but at the end of the day, they are a private company owned in large part by an investment group that even says “capitalizing on worldwide opportunities arising from global cyclical business trends” Sounds like someone that can be bought for sure.

I’ve heard some scuttlebutt about TO buying Pacific but nothing concrete
