I think that there is a valid argument for both the construction AND operating subsidy. Problem is, it will be labeled corporate welfare. . . .

Yeah but with the billions of dollars pumped into the military each year and the military’s reliance on the Merchant Marine in the time of war and the Merchant Marine’s importance for the economic independence of our nation, I think it could be advertised as worth it and different than “corporate welfare”. With the 630,000,000,000 spent annually maybe some of that money could go to maritime subsidies. What is the operating subsidy I am not familiar with it and interested in learning about it.
