As we approach the peak of the hurricane season in the North Atlantic there is another hurricane season that few people (outside of Mariners) realize that is about to start. This other hurricane seasons occurs over both the North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans and runs from September to May. These storms are not tracking through the tropics, however, but instead are associated with the extra-tropical cyclones of the higher latitudes.
