The El Faro Salute! arrives at home

What say the forum art critics?

OK, I’ll start … To me it looks like a poorly executed, and distasteful to the point of insulting, amateur exercise in plasma cutting.

I second that. Rockland’s heart is in the right place but that piece of cartoon “art” sucks. A simple plaque with the names of the sailors lost, common in many waterfront New England towns, would have been more appropriate.

People strongly disliked the Vietnam War Memorial in DC at first because it wasn’t a traditional war memorial. But views have changed. Evidently the artist that designed it saw something the rest of us could not see.

I think the El Faro Salute will stand the test of time but we shall see.
