Dear Professional Mariner Customer,
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations (NOAA) Navigation Services Offices, made up of the Office of Coast Survey (OCS) the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS) and the National Geodetic Survey (NGS), want to know whether you are satisfied with their products, services and data, and whether you have suggestions as to how they can be improved. This information will be used to enhance NOAAs Navigation Services products, services and data to better meet your needs.

A link is shown below to a questionnaire which can be completed online. This survey should take no more than 10 minutes of your time we have designed it with check boxes so it should be easy to complete. This survey has two tracks, one for maritime users of these products and data and a new one for coastal managers, so that we may learn how these services are being applied for non-navigation purposes.

The Coastal Management portion of this survey builds on the results of the 2010 Coastal Resource Management Customer Trends Survey conducted by the NOAA Coastal Services Center, by asking how these particular products and services are being used to address priority coastal management issues. The Commercial Mariner portion of the survey is built from trend information gathered in previous Nautical Charting Customer Satisfaction surveys conducted by NOAAs Office of Coast Survey. You will only be asked to fill out one section of the survey (either the Coastal Management or the Commercial Mariner portion of the survey), whichever is most pertinent to your interests. Please click on the following link to access the questionnaire.

All data collected in this survey will be analyzed according to the specifications of the Market Research Societys Code of Conduct, which assures confidentiality to those participating in the survey. The information provided by answering the questionnaire will only be used for statistical analysis.

When you have completed the questionnaire please click on the SUBMIT button, then wait for the National Ocean Service website to be displayed. This will ensure we receive your responses. Strategy, Research & Action Inc, a company that specializes in research on charts and other navigation products, will receive the sent surveys, analyze the questionnaires and provide NOAA with the statistical results. Please complete the survey by July 8th, 2011.

If you have any comments regarding this survey or any other aspect of this collection of information, please contact Matthew Kroll (matt.kroll@noaa.gov), National Ocean Service, 1315 East-West Highway, SSMC3, Room 6360, N/CS5, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910.

We appreciate your help and we look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

David M. Kennedy
Assistant Administrator for Ocean Services and Coastal Management
