SS United States Florida Scuba Diving Reef

One of the last Non-Nucular examples of steel left in the world, Is going to a reef.
this is sad for many reasons.

Wut……

You mean the SS United States?

The SS America is a broken up wreck on a beach in Africa somewhere.

I messed that up;
Yes, the SS United States…
The hulk up north heading to a reef in Florida.

Construction started: February 8, 1950, so unless built from steel made before 1945, or recycled steel from shipwrecks built during, or pre-WWII, she don’t qualify as “non-nuclear”

Sad but sounds like she will at least break one last world record:

Yep, You are correct.
Still, she can’t glow in the dark to much. :smiling_face:

Seems this is a far better outcome to at least let scuba divers (I am not one) get to enjoy this vessel. Certainly no one is going aboard up in Philly.

It’s about time.

In equity investing this is called a Dead Cat Bounce.
