This isn’t scuttlebutt but it shows us something about how another nation adopted what used to be American values and how it applies those values to their political institutions.
America spent 36,000 young lives to bring democracy to South Korea. While I don’t necessarily agree with the court’s decision in this case, the fact that the charge was filed and a legal process was followed says a lot about what we have lost.
Yep, so true. Imagine if 3 or 4 courts from far away, different providences & municipalities that have no contact with one another except for the judges & prosecutors being of the same political party waited years, up to 8 years in some cases to somehow bring all the cases in front of the media at the same exact time during a crucial election cycle? Most honest people & the rest of the world would call it blatant election interference & corruption. Then Imagine if one of those courts key witness was a known perjurist, who spent time in prison for telling blatant lies to a court was used by the prosecution to get a conviction? Good on South Korea for doing absolutely nothing like that.
