Shipwreck Men

Thanks for adding your input.

I’m not here to insult anyone or call in to play your professionalism. What I am saying is this… Regarding the yacht engine-room fire. The show editors played the piece of a Fast Response man going into the ER on fire with no preparation, hesitation or caution, and coming out coughing and gaging. The editors may be to blame here if this isn’t what happened. I have never work professionally on a yacht, but I do know their fires are bad because of chemicals and fumes generated from burning fiberglass. I work steel ships and tugs. But in either case, if there’s a fire in the engine-room and the CO2 system has been discharged, or an antiquated Halon system discharged… I am not foolish enough to think I can “hold” my breathe for seven seconds. What if that man had tripped in his hurried state? What if he stumbled over something in the smoke he hadn’t seen, landed on the deck and forgot to hold his breathe? It’s dangerous and foolish to go in without proper protection. ESPECIALLY, if there is no human life in jeopardy inside that space.

Now if what they showed wasn’t accurate or fact, we’ll blame the editors and that is where the drama is edited into these shows. In either case, it is my opinion after watching this show and others like it, that the editors and producers have a lot of incentive in getting good ratings and making money, and you or anyone on these shows, are allowing them to make you look foolish and unprofessional all in the name of your personal fame or fortune. It’s not for me.
