Young Bros. is no longer a venerable old Hawaii company. It’s now a red-headed stepchild of Foss, which is owned by Saltchuk. The wages are low. For some reason all the companies in Hawaii seem to have the idea that mariners are supposed to work cheap for the privilege of being in Hawaii.
I think Saltchuk also has a fuel business with some gas stations in Hawaii. I’m surprised that they have not yet gotten into Jones Act container shipping to Hawaii.
