What kind of work does this outfit do? I’m sorry to say I’ve never heard of them. Anyone got a line on what kind of rotation, pay, shape of equipment, etc?
Young Bros is the cargo arm of Hawaii Tug and Barge (HTB) which tows the lion’s share of all cargo interisland in Hawaii. As far as I know they do not have any West Coast to Hawaii trade, leaving that to Matson and their ships.
Young Bros and HTB are both owned by Saltchuk Resources which also owns TOTE and Foss Maritime. In fact HTB might even be called Foss now? I think I remember something like that happening…
HTB boats all got green paint jobs, they’re officially a Foss division. YB kept the name.
Not the best pay or schedule but you don’t have to work cargo. Plus it’s Hawaii.
Have you worked there? I had a 2nd mates job interview a year or two ago. Apparently that job has turnover. They told me to work out my schedule with my relief but the hitches were typically 3 months. Im more of a 3 week person. But just curious what its like working there? Rough weather all the time? Nice equipment?
