maybe it was spelled ‘‘safe acid’’ but was a blue powder that came in a blue 5 gallon bucket. One mixed it with water (hot water worked better) and it’d clean most anything you put in it but wouldn’t hurt wood, rubber nor important stuff. A internet search leads to the usual suspects but does anyone know how it was spelled, or better yet, who carries it? I cleaned evaps with it though rumor was it didn’t do the inside of an alpha Lavel any good?
Drew Chemical sold it, it is sulfamic acid H3NSO3.
Real men used hydrochloric acid HCL
The name sure sounds familiar, but I can’t help. On a similar issue, I’ve been looking for a spray can miracle that I used years ago called “Shop Foreman”. It was a super effective Liquid Wrench type of thing that seemed to work way better than most. The engineers used to joke that simply having a can of that stuff in the same room as a rusty fitting would work wonders. Can’t find it anymore.
@Steamer is correct. It is a Drew Product

yea, i’ve had horrible experiences with hcl when i worked in aerospace. besides, i’m just cleaning out engine blocks and such, don’t need that strong a acid! thx for the info.
Kamal, I can unequivocally recommend Kroil as a penetrating/rust busting oil. Incredible stuff. Smells wonderful too! I love the smell of Kroil in the morning.
Kp
Ditto the positive experience with Kroil.
Cheers,
Earl
Kroil is the best, when you find a penetrate with animal fat in it you’re on the right track but buying enough to flush a engine block is too expensive, and a waste! i’ve had amazing experiences with rusted things i’d totally given up on, most recently a 3" micrometer that got wet, yup, it freed up after years of neglect and now going to the calibration shop.
