Russian ship stuck in ice
I guess that was a rum driven embellishment. I looked back to 1977 and it was 80 degrees.
95 degrees in 1966
95 degrees in 1966
I thought it was hotter than 80 the way the locals were carrying on. They said it was the most sweltering in years. I enjoyed my time in Seward.

@Cat…I take none of this personally. This is a chat board for our education and enjoyment. The only problem is when people take themselves too seriously. And besides, as my instructor at Piney Point in one of the first STCW courses for “Social Responsibilities” implied that as a white, straight, Christian male, I was not “entitled” to get pissed off! LOL!

Oh guess what gang…the Chinese icebreaker got stuck and yet another is rushing to their aid…this is almost comical.

This is going to be the 21st century version of the La Brea tar pit. Some aliens a million years from now are going to find a dozen ice breakers frozen into an antarctic glacier, all with tow lines attached to each other and each trying to pull the last one out.

well, now I can see it. The international community drops tons of great food on those Russians, then their sea chest freezes shut, the head quits … what’s next? I still think any of us could get $10G per interview telling what is likely to happen there.
Well, my post made it to the board but got deleted.

Did you read the link?

Even the CEO of Exxon-Mobil admits that climate change is a serious problem.

You can point out individual discrepancies all you want but you can’t deny it when the big businesses acknowledge it’s a problem.

I made a post but it was deleted. A new poster below was able to quote it so you can read it there. The email scam was a hoax, those emails were hacked and re-written by people looking to discredit the scientists.

The oil and gas industry admits that climate change is a real and serious problem, so perhaps it’s time to pay attention to the facts- and leave the hyperbole and hysterical bible-thumping behind.

Until the deniers come up with their own peer-reviewed empirical data, I’ll stick with science.
You are silly. The earth has been warming and cooling for like, ever. Just because it is warming at a faster RATE than ever before in history and just because fossil fuel use is up at the same rate means nothing as there are lots of coincidences in the world. Magnets inside the pyramids are the likely cause of warming of the earth but nobody wants to look at that and the socialists keep the Egyptians at war all the time so nobody can get close to the pyramids and find the truth. This warming crap is all a worldwide socialist theory in order to make Al Gore rich because he is the scientific head of the Illuminati. If you believe in global warming being man made I’ll bet you believe in vaccinating innocent children and using antibiotics when you have an infection even though leeches have worked for centuries and they are free. You really need to quit reading books and listening to scientists from all over the world most of which isn’t even in the USA. Pretty much everything you need to know is right there on Fox news and if you got to read the National Enquirer {made in the USA] has many real scientists that write for them. What the heck has a scientist ever done anyway? If they are so smart why aren’t they rich?

How do we know it’s warming at faster rate? Do the hieroglyphics bare this out?

Hmmm, burning a gallon of diesel releases about 22.2 pounds of co2. Global warming is just Mother Nature running a little fever in order to get rid of an infection…

Doesn’t a gallon of diesel weigh like 7 or 8 lbs? Not disputing your number just curious how the physics work, burn 7 lbs of fuel, release 20 lbs of gas? Someone please explain

The next generation will figure out what to burn for gas. Why? because they’re just going to have to. Meanwhile I’m going to burn what I can while it’s still here! my '69 RT gets about 9-11 mpg (or less depending on what fun you’re having) now about those pyramids, I’ve read a lot of the surveys of that monument, can even read some hieroglyphics and the only metal I know they’ve found (not retrieved) is a iron or bronze bar in the upper east quadrant, I think it’s just a monument best interpreted for a base of measurements but that’s a whole 'nother subject aint it?

PS…110 degrees in parts of Queensland, Australia. Take that, deniers!

Let’s see…The southern most part of Queensland is 29 deg S. About the same as I am N. It’s the middle of their summer…hmmmm…

It’s ok, I just heard the usa is sending the polar star down there to save the day! BUT… what if they can’t… call ghost busters? I think that’s now 4 ice breakers? … I understand the rooskies have the best ice breakers but if the usa fails… time to open the wallet huh?

Ahh…this is what I was digging around for.

2013 was hottest year on record for Australia.

It’s the trends and extremes that we need to keep an eye on. Crazy weather patterns over time.

I’m sure they’re wishin’ for a little ice their way right now.

Maybe it would be better for the common good to put that Earth Murdering relic of Dino sucking Strait Line Stupidity in a museum. Tesla S smoke the shit outta that thing, silently and smoothly. Take one for a test drive if you think I’m bullshitting… Leaving an even more screwed up planet for our kids merely indicates a lack of situational awareness. PS, I put Razor blades on a miniature pyramid, as you can see by my profile pic, it didn’t work…

“Climate Change is socialism in drag” says Steve Forbes…

The end of the cited article notes that shareholder approval for the pro-active measures CEO Tillerson recommends has dropped to about 26%. How many individuals does it take to own 74% of Exxon stock?

“Climate Change is Capitalism Out of the closet.” Dredge Boy. Injunear, how many Gigatons of carbon do you think can be released into the atmosphere before the occurrence of a quantifiable effect?
