Rock dumper Arcadia under construction

The contract to build a Rock dumper for the US market was signed in 2021 and discussed here:

Now the steel cutting sermony for the Arcadia has been held at Philly Shipyard and attended by President Biden:

U.S. President Joe Biden meets with Lasse Johannes Petterson, CEO of Great Lakes Dredge and Dock (GLDD) and Steinar Nerbovik, CEO of Philadelphia Shipyard, Inc. (PSI) during a tour of Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S., July 20, 2023. REUTERS/Evelyn Hockstein

He neglected to mention that the yard is owned and operated by Philly Shipyard ASA, a Norwegian company listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange:

BTW; The two gentlemen with him are both Norwegians, both educated at NTNU and worked in the Aker system:

PS> The vessel was designed by Ulstein Desing & Solution B.V.:

I haven’t seen any equipment list for this vessel yet.(??)

Announcment from Ulstein today:

The equipment will be European. So will the financing.

Five times as many Norwegians in the US than there are in Norway. The USA door is wide open for foreign investors with $500,000 or more, executives, and skilled labor.

More work for Philly Shipyatd:

Wow, the place went from a skeleton security crew warding off junkie scrappers to a prominent shipbuilding facility again!

It just took a little help from a fellow called Kjell Inge Røkke and his Aker Group:
