In the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, 66 of 122 mobile offshore drilling rigs are under contract this week, a net-one rig decline since last week. U.S. Gulf rig fleet utilization this week is 54.1 percent. Due to the ongoing regulatory situation in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon disaster, only 30 of the U.S. Gulf’s 66 contracted rigs are actually working.
